It is a well known trick of time, that each one needs to reach a cross road to make a choice between what one wants and what is offered. Interestingly not just the residents around Ashok Pillar, but also every single person trying to reach: Vadapalani, Saidapet, K.K.Nagar and Ashok Nagar perse is tested by the trick of time everyday.
A commoner, who is destined to go to Vadapalani from Guindy, would first reach the signal next to the BSNL office in Ashok Nagar. It’s from there the real nightmare starts for any driver and gives an adrenaline rush for the passengers. Considering the probability that the driver chooses to drive along the lane adjacent to the RTO office and the rehabilitation centre, upon reaching the next junction adjacent to Udhyam theatre, needs to traverse the road in a very crude manner to reach the left turn that would lead to Vadapalani. In this journey between BSNL office and the left turn next to Ashok Pillar post office , the driver needs to by pass vehicles destined to K.K.Nagar that cruise the roads diagonally just opposite to the rehabilitation centre. If still with life, then the driver’s next challenge would be to confront vehicles destined to Saidapet traversing opposite to Udhayam theatre. If still alive, then the drive continues towards the destination – Vadapalani.
Such a chaotic traffic regulation has screwed the life of pedestrians. It is now impossible for children, women and the geriatric population to cross the roads. The other day the traffic police was caught between the traffic and upon crossing the road his body language clearly showed a dismay in the new traffic regulation.
Change is the only thing that keeps changing, but it is to be noted that changes at the cost of life is not a very positive change.
As a resident utilizing this road zone, I would like to make an appeal to the traffic authorities to make changes that can succor a fear free commutation with lesser adrenaline rush.
The residents and the consumers of this cross road will wait with crossed fingers for an appropriate action at the earliest!!
